Using Remington as an example---Are the Bbls used on the SPS, Sendero, varminters etc of equal quality. I know that A shillen, or PacNor etc are usually better, but what about in house. Do they use better quality Bbls on diff models??? THX HAWKSHAW

the only better barrels will be on the 40X models. Now, when you consider they hammer forge their barrels (which imparts the MOST stresses on the steel) you know you are working with a factory barrel. Shilen, PacNor etc use button rifling which produces a more uniform barrel with less stresses in the steel. Krieger, etc use cut rifling which induces the least stresses in the steel.

Much of the difference will be in the stock. The crappy injection molded plastic ctocks on some of their heavy barreled rifles, hurts their accuracy potential. Now, take that same barreled action, and put it in the HS Precision stock that comes on the Sendero etc, and you will see a gain in accuracy right away, but then again, that is why the sendero costs more money.
