Barrel replacement

When / How do you know when a barrel is worn out. For example, my dad's 30 year old Ruger M 77 30-06. How long will that barrel last (number of rounds)? Thanks for the input.
FWIW, the rifle is still very acurate.

I need to replace the barrel in my 22 target rifle...what manufacturer's barrel should I chose? I would like a CM barrel. Tried to find info on whether a CM or SS would be best...most people look like they are using SS...is it better than CM? Why?

Can you replace a Colt Trooper Mark III barrel with a Colt Python Barrel?

Depends of the rifle, brownell's runs a survey each year on prices and they list $75-$150 for a pre-threaded and chambered barrel to $125-$185 for threading and chambering a blank not including polishing or blueing or the cost of the barrel. In my shop I charge $90 to install and chamber barrel blank on a m-98 mauser if i have the reamer + bluing + the cost of the barrel. Other actions will cost more.
