What is the difference between a long action and short action rifle? Is a 30-06 a long action rifle? I'm buying a scope mount for a 30-06 and want to get the right type.

ALSO DEPENDS ON WHICH MODEL RIFLE, SAVAGE M-110 USED TO BE ALL LONG ACTION NO MATTER WHAT CAL.
