I have a circa 1959 94 with a poorly refinished stock. What can I do to make it look original. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Terry

Strip it down carefully stay away from the checkering, and hand rub a few coats of true oil on her. With some light sanding in between coats, she'll look good. Its to bad its been refinished, normally the answer to this question is dont touch it[:D]

He is correct with the oil but you need to get a stain on it. Winchester used a redish walnut stain. I mix my own from woodcraft. They sell the oil with the stain mixed in it on GB.

Would that stain be the same as for the M1 Garand?

Chestnut Ridge Supply / Dark Walnut / Military Stock Stain / With a hint of red /4 FL OZ.
