buying from non-FFL person

Question. A person works in one state and goes home on weekends to another state. Weapons are cheaper in the state he goes home to on the weekends. He buys for friends in that state and brings them back to the state he works in and sells them to friends for what he paid. The seller does not have an FFL license. Is this legal? Could a person get in trouble buying from his friend?

    The seller in this situation is in violation of at least two Federal Laws, more specific infoformation might yield to more possible violations. A buyer in this situation is in violation of at least one Federal Law, same as above, more info may show more wrong doing.Aside from that, as if that is not enough of a deterrent, there are more than likely State Law violations as well, depends on the state.

    It is illeagal to purchase a firearm with the intent on resale unless you have an FFL. If you buy as a gift or ues the firearm and decide you don't want it any more, then it can be given/sold with out an FFL.

    I have bought a few guns with specific intent to resell them even though I have no FFL, but to make things legal I kept them a few months, took them out to the range a few times, and then got rid of them. If you don't at least appear to be using the weapon yourself, you are asking for trouble.
