I have a fairly new model 9410 winchester shotgun and was wondering if I could let my son use it to shoot slugs for the next deer season?

Sure. Its a high priced slug gun. You may look at something a little less money

Use the improved cylinder choke tube with foster rifled slugs, keep your shots inside of 50 yds. and use good shot placement. Be sure your state allows the use of a 410 for deer hunting and what kind of sight is mandatory. Time at the range will give him the confidence he needs to make a clean kill.
