I was wondering what the general consensus was on the Browning 22 lever action rifles. A buddy has one for sale and it's a pretty good looking rifle but I never had any dealings with them.

I inherited a Browning 22 lever action and know it is old as I can remember it when I was young. I cannot find a model number anywhere. I did find a number on it, 15530RR126. I guess that is a serial number, but I'm not sure. Gun has the original Browning butt plate on it. I would appreciate any information.

The Browning BL22 is a top notch lever action rifle. They come in several grades. They will shoot mixed loads 22 LR,22 Long and 22 short with no problems.Mine was made in Japan.Mine is a excellent shooter.the only thing I don't like about it is the high gloss finish which I plan to change.

One of the best out of the box 22 rifles there is [;)] Mine was the most accurate that I owned. Kicking my * for ever letting it go [:(]

Exatly what the others said, agree about the high-gloss, to me it makes the rifle look cheap for some reason ??? I toned the gloss down on mine. Never try to disassemble this rifle unless your a certified gunsmith, even they don't like to work on them, very complicated but then again you'll probably never have to repair one [;)]

Agree. I have had, and still do have, a number of these in various grades. They are accurate, good looking and fun to shoot. A little pricey at times but IMHO worth the few dollars more.

The BL-22 is an outstanding gun. I'll never be without one. I admire the Winchester and I enjoy the Henry, but I love the Browning.

I've found the BL-22 works best with a lightweight scope. The factory iron sights are just so-so, like most .22's nowadays.
