correcting out of line optilock rings for Sako

I recently asked if 30-378 would bend a scope. Subsequent to the replies I bought a wheeler scope alignment tool and can see that my rear ring is out of line vertically with my front ring (the tip of the 1" bar in the rear is lower than the 1" bar in the front ring). How can this be corrected? The Lapping tool will probably not work because the rings have plastic inserts thus the lapping tool will not fit tightly in the rings, against the metal, without the inserts.

Take pic's and ask Sako for help. Maybe you can shim between the base and the receiver. Perhaps between the base and bottom half of the ring.

    thethirdpig,

There are several companies out there now that make rings for the SAKO dovetail. I might look at choosing one of those, over the Optilock rings. I never liked the Optilock's to start with.

There are also some unimounts, that have the base and rings, all line bored, and ready to go. They are a little spendy, but will suit your need. They are available from Euro-optic, at eurooptic.com . Tey are also vendors on the auction side.
