Help With Stevens 311 Firing Pin

I was working on this old Stevens 311. It needed an ejector and some screws in the forend. I got it cleaned up and working, then went to test fire it. Both hammers cock and fall, but it only fires the right barrel.
Looking closely at the breech face, I can see the right firing pin in the hole, but nothing in the left side. I figure the left firing pin is either broken or missing.
I have no idea where to start in taking down the action. I have an exploded view, but this thing looks as though it must be done in the correct order, or else it will launch small parts and springs all over the place.
So, if you know how to get this thing apart and back together, please clue me in.

Good luck
It might be smart to also buy new pins having fresh knurling.
The hammers on at least some of these are zinc alloy and not steel.
I replaced mine with steel and still have an unbroken zinc left hammer if you need it.
You will have to see. If so,the parts have to still be floating around in the gun if the retaining screw backed out and the FP and spring dropped back into the action. Be careful removing the stock so as not to lose the tiny FP rebounding spring.
I see three possibilities: broken FP tip, broken die cast hammer or
the parts came loose in the gun. In any event the buttstock needs to come off to assess the problem.
