A friend of mine is trying to find out the exact type of SKS that was banned in CA.
The one that CA first said to register, then confiscated. Yeah, that one. What type/specs exactly was it?
He's the kind of guy who wants to get one just as a big "Scr_w you" to the anti's.
I figured I'd ask.

Suffer Not This King
Howso' great their clamour, whatso'er their claim, Suffer not the old King under any name! He shall mark our goings, question whence we came, Set his guards about us, as in Freedom's name.

Specifically it was the Chinese that were capable of accepting detachable magazines.

oh, no, better watch out for those law obiding citzens with the grenade launching muzzle attachments on their sks's. Don't worry about the depressed kid down the street making pipe bombs and telling everyone who he's gonna kill....

I went to CA for vaction last week and while I was there, I checked some of the gun stores to see what they had.....BORING!! I am glad I was only on vacation and was returning to the safety of my home in Washington where it's okay for now. I felt really naked without my chambered buddy on me.

    Go to http://caag.state.ca.us/firearms/dwcl/12275.htm

    (i) Notwithstanding paragraph (11) of subdivision (a) of Section 12276, an "SKS rifle" under this section means all SKS rifles commonly referred to as "SKS Sporter" versions, manufactured to accept a detachable AK-47 magazine and imported into this state and sold by a licensed gun dealer, or otherwise lawfully possessed in this state by a resident of this state who is not a licensed gun dealer, between January 1, 1992, and December 19, 1997
