I would like everyone's input on an HK4.
What are the pro's and con's of this auto in .380?
I'm not looking for ultra-compact, but quality counts!!!
What are your experiences and suggestions for a .380 or.....?

I have one. I have yet to shoot it. Go to this site and they have info on how not to destroy it. It has some rubber/hard plastic block that can go bad. Will break the frame. If this site will be shown. It's not an auction site so here goes nothing.

I have one and I like the novelty of the interchangable barrels. However, as noted, they are fragile, and no parts are available.

The double action trigger pull is terrible. The pistol is nice and light. I have shot mine once with the .380 barrel, and the rest if the time with the .22 barrel. I have not fired it in many years.

If you want a small, light defense gun, buy a Kel-Tec P11 and you will have about the same size and weight, but you will have 11 rounds of 9x19 with about the same recoil as the blow-back HK4 in the weaker .380.

    Thanks for the input.
Where is/are the rubber/plastic blocks located on the pistol?
How could the frame break if the blocks wear out?

Would you recommend another .380ACP over the HK4?

I do not have my HK4 at hand, but as I recall, the buffer is part of the recoil spring guide. Go to the HKPRO forum and do some searching on the HK4. You will get the full story there.

If you want a .380 power level in a big gun like the HK4, the SIG P232 and Walther PPK are about the best choices. However, now that the Kel-Tec P11 is available, why carry a .380 that is as big and kicks as hard and holds less rounds of a weaker cartridge?

The only reason to carry a .380 is for small size, and there the only choice is a Colt Pony or Mustang Pocketlite. The little Colts are locked breach and recoil a lot less than the blowback pistols mentioned. If the HK4 size is acceptable, I would choose the P11 instead for the reason stated.
