85 gr jhp 1100 fps muzzle,230 ft lbs muzzle 195 at 50 yds
    95 gr fmj 1030 fps muzzle, 225 " " 190 " " .

As a guess by those numbers I would say a little hotter than a .380 but not quite a .38 special ( although very very close.) My father is a big proponent of the 32. magnum. He uses it for his house gun. I argue with him about buying a .38 special and the ammo would be cheaper but he will have none of that. Those figures were taken from the Guns and Ammo Annual. Hope this helps.

    .32 H&R Magnum

Was introduced in 1984 for the H&R Model 504, 532, and 586 Revolvers. This cartridge is basically an old .32S&W case lengthend by 0.155". So any .32h&r magnum revolver will also be capable of fireing .32s&w and .32s&w longs, in the same way that you can shoot a .38spl in a .357magnum revolver. It should be noted that the .32-20 can be easily handloaded to equal the .32h&r magnum, but I don't know of any new revolvers capable of handling the pressure.

    Ballistics:

    Factory 85gr JHP 1100fps (230e)
    Factory 95gr Lead SWC 1030fps (225e)
    85gr JHP 4.0gr Unique 900fps (153e)
    90gr Lead 3.4gr Unique 815fps (145e)
    98gr Lead 3.0gr Unique 815fps (145e)

I got this information from Catridges of the World 9th Revised edition, by: Fanck C. Barnes.

If your looking into getting one, its a great little plinker. Its more of a unique cartridge, or should I say non-mainstream. If your looking for something a little different, its great. I would advise you start handloading if you don't already. If you plan on shooting more than twice a year, you could really save some cash, and work up some good loads. This is a great cartridge for carrying as a sidearm on hunting trips, shooting small hogs, and the occasional neighbors cat. There are some really nice revolvers in this caliber. I'd have to say Ruger makes my favorites, the New Single Six they just put out last year with the fake ivory handles, and they also make an SP101 thats pretty sweet in the .32h&r.
