Ruger GB Mini-14 ? how much is it worth?

I bought a stainless Ruger GB Mini-14 about 10 years ago...definitely before the assault rifle law. I recently gave it to my son telling him to hang on to it because it likely had some value more than a standard Mini. The rifle is in 99+% condition. I also gave him 2 factory Ruger high capacity magazines for it...if I recall, they are 30 rounders.

Question: How much is the rifle worth (so he can insure it if he wants)? Same question on the magazines. How much are they worth?

The rifle itself doesn't have a whole lot of extra worth just for being preban, unless its the factory folder or has assult goodies grandfathered onto it, I traded in my blued mini a few months ago and got $320 for it, so i would guess your ss at $350-$360, the mags themselves are going for well over $75 bucks depending on their condition.

The rifle has a wooden stock. It has a "trash can" looking thing (Ruger factory) on the muzzle and a bayonete lug for attaching the M-16 bayonete.

The Ruger magazines are blue and in perfect condition. No scratches, rust or blue wear.

It is definatly the GB model then. I saw them being advertised for $650 surplus police rifles in Shotgun News a few months ago. I'd say that would be a good place to start.

I should also add that if you have any original Ruger Factory High Capacity magazines those are worth a whole lot. I'd advise they be sold seperately for the most profit.

As stated, a GB Mini-14 is worth a LOT more than a standard. With all the misguided posters looking for "pre-ban" standard Minis (there is no such thing) thinking they can legally modifiey them now with the forbidden "assault weapon" features (they cannot), apparently the ones who come to realize that is illegal will pay a lot to get a real Pre-Ban Mini. A factory folding stock adds hundreds to the value.

If this package has factory 30-round magazines, it is very desirable and I would certainly keep it.

When I first asked this similar question a couple of months ago, I thought I was getting a good deal paying $600 for a blue GB in +99%condition with both full wood stock and factory folder and a dozen hi cap mags (4 factory, 8 PMI's). I did not realize it till after I decided to buy it that it was not a good deal, it was a steal!! I actually felt guilty (for a nano second) for paying so little for what I got. I've been getting offers around $650 at the range for just the gun and full wood stock alone. I won't sell it though because it' so much fun to shoot. So for starters, your mini should be worth ~$750+ and mags ~$100+/ea. which Dano hit right on. GD

INSURE THE RIFLE FOR $900. Insure the package (rifle + 2 ruger factory mags) for $1,150. If you are slightly over insured today, the rising replacement costs will soon catch up. As said above, a GB Stainless in 99% condition is a valuable investment (assuming you keep it that way). With a factory folding stock, add about $350.
