9mm reloads

Hey i was wondering if i could save money by reloading 9mm? I can get a case of 1000 for about 115 dollars. I guess the biggest cost would be all the equpment needed. What are your thoughts on reloading the 9mm?

I reload mine with copper plated bullets from Midway at a cost of about $80 per thousand.

I figure about $60 to $65 per 1000 rounds.

9mm is so cheap now that I hardly ever reload it anymore. You have to count your time and labor then it seems to favor store-bought ammo. ( at least with the 9mm) Biggest advantage in reloading comes from being able to load roundsor bullets that are not commonly available to whatever velocity that you like. I have found that the biggest savings in reloading come from the larger pistol/ revolver rounds or with rifle ammunition. Just my humble opinion...

The US military uses a 124gr load that travels 1299fps.

They also have a really cool M939 9mm Tracer round used for practice, only goes 885fps.

Correct me if i'm wrong but I thought that for every different manufacturer of a bullet, there was different reloading data for the bullet. I was under the impression that bullets from different manufactures, even for the same weight and style, could produce unsafe pressures in an otherwise safe load. I'm sure that I'll be corrected but I would like for someone to clarify this. Thanks.

Unless you have a progressive loader or alot ot time it's not worth the effort. Do reload competition ammo only anymore.
