I was thinking about putting a thompson scope #8670 on my new encore 209x50 Does anyone know anything about thompson scopes ? I was told that you have to put a Blackpowder scope on a muzzleloader or you can ruin a regular rifle scope The dealer told me somthing about the recoil is differant with a centerfire and a blackpowder gun Thanks Kevin

Thompson/Center stands behind their scopes for use on their (as well as just about any other brand) wide variety of firearms. You could spend more money & get less reliability mounting a scope intended for high-power rifle shooting than going with T/C's. which are engineered to stand up to what their firearms can dish out. Whatever you eventually do though, be very carefull in choosing a scope mount and having it fitted to your gun and scope choice, or doing the job yourself. I'd venture that more good scopes are damaged as the result of a bad mounting job & then the bame falls on the scope when it fails because of the stresses & strains from the poor fitting job.
