Model 99 value?

Does anyone have a guess as to the value of a very lightly used Savage Model 99 in .300 Savage cal.? It was pop's gun so it is not a re-issue, it has no glass,it has open sights with a Lyman tang mounted peep added sometime in the 50's or 60's (?). The stock and Schnabel type forend are checkered walnut. The bluing and case colored lever are original and in VG condition. It also has an indicator built into the side of the receiver that shows how many rounds are in the magazine.
I would also appreciate your view on this gun for use on white tails, black bear, and possibly a Tennessee hog.
Thanks, The PIGG

I don't have my Blue book handy, Mine is in the same era in .250 Sav.
an I "think" the price was around $350 to 450. My mom took many Deer and 2 black bears with it back in the early 50,s
    Hope that helps!

.250's go for a little more than .300's. Value depends almost entirely on condition. Adding the tang sight could drop or enhance value depending upon if a collector or shooter is buying. Where I live, for a rifle in 90% condition you might get $450 on a really good day.

If the gun is in excellent condition, that is with all the blue, no major scratches in the wood and no extra holes for a scope (depending on the serial number range) and no cut stock. It should be worth at least $400-450.

As far as the receiver sight goes, also depending on the serial #, they were factory drilled and tapped early in production. If it is a tang sight, more than likely it is original.

If it is a side mounted sight, it's not.
