Need Help On a Scope

I would like to purchase a scope for my new (and only) rifle. My rifle is a Rem 7400 30-06 auto. I would like to get a scope that will last. My choices are:

1. Leupold VXII 3X9X40 $259
2. Nikon 3X9X40 Monarch $239
3. Burris 3X9X40 Fullfield II $177
4. Bushnell Elite 3200 3X9X40 $179
5. Weaver Grad Slam 3X9X40 $250 ish
6. Simmon Aetec 3x9x40 $150

As you can tell I am trying to keep the cost at or below $250.00
If you have had a bad experience with one of the above scopes, I would like to also know.

Lots of good scopes but i perfer Burris have 5 of them..One on a shotgun the rest on rifles..Burris has a forever warranty..But so do several others

For my money, the Leupold has great optics. A 30-06 is a stiff kicker and this scope can handle the recoil very well.

LEOPOLD vari x 2 has gotten cheaper check SWFA in desoto TX for a cheap price they have an internet site good folks

My choice would be the leupold, Second and third is a toss-up between the nikon and the bushnell elite 3200.

The 30-06 has very good recoil, And this is a good part of what causes scope failer. Also, You want something that wont fog up on you many years from know when that importent shot (once in a lifetime oppertunity) comes along, you want something you can have confidence in.
The three scope brands I mentioned above stand behind them for a lifetime, If it fails to meet your standerds you send it in with a small(Usualy about 10.00 return fee) check, And they will fix any problem or replace it with a equivelient or better scope.

I have used Leupolds for many years and am completely satisfied. I think the high-end Burris scopes are probably comparable as far as quality and warranty is concerned. Personally, with the rest of the scopes on your list, I would aviod--I'm not saying they are not good scopes, but I don't want them on my rifle.

Good luck, Stay away from the Nicon, I tryed to get them to repair one for me, all I got was bull**** from them. I am trying out 2 B&L 3200 and 4200 They seem to be holding togeather, I shoot a lot of 300 Mag and 338 mags, The Bushnell 3200 should be a good one for that 06

If it were me, I would save a little longer and go with a Burris Signature. Short of that I would go with the Leupold, then Nikon Monarch, then Fullfield. Get the best you can possible afford and a little more, you want it to last, and you want fully multi-coated optics.

Take He Dog's advice. Look at www.natchezss.com and www.baerbasin.com and check out the Burris signature series prices. For about $100 more, you will get twice the scope of any of the others you mentioned. Mine hold up to magnum and wildcat loads without a single problem/failure and the warranty is UNCONDITIONAL forever. As long as you don't run over it on purpose, they will fix it.

A great rifle with a junk scope,....is junk.

i have several leupold scopes and my first leupold scope a VII 2*7, is mounted on my first rifle, a model 4 rem autoloader in 7mm express 15 years ago.i still use this set up, with no problems................

I have all of your top four choices. I prefer the Leupold and burris than the nikon. I've had trouble with my bushnell elite. However they replaced it.
