Alternative to Ruger PC4? Grab and go

I live near Kansas City, the 18th most dangerous city in the nation. In addition, unlike other states in which I lived, when there is a crash on our highways, authorities typically shut down all lanes for an excessive amount of time (I was an LEO, 11 years, and a traffic investigator). Anyway. One might find that he has broken down, run out of gas, or a parked target for the criminals. Some of us were kicking around the idea (we all have our CCW licenses) of having both a pistol and a carbine that fire the same round. Since I already have a Ruger P94 (.40 cal), I was thinking about the Ruger PC4. They are not made anymore and the used price (J&G Sales) is more than what I was going to pay new. Makes no sense to me. I thought of the High Point but, then the mags I have for the Rugers don't work. Any suggestions for an alternative? Thanks

The Beretta mag is the same as Ruger's P-series in its shape. The latch-point is different between the two. (Ruger's is on the front, Beretta's is on the side.) You can make a magazine that will work in both the Beretta and Ruger by having both latch-points cut in the magazine body.
If you made the "dual" magazines, you could have the Kel-Tec as the companion carbine to your P94.
If you carried a Glock Olympic Arms makes an AR that takes Glock mags in 9mm and 40 cal. The OA AR is about $900 though.
If you carried a 1911 you could get a Camp 45 but they have been sneaking up in price.
The Camp 9 would be a good choice if you carried a 9mm as I believe you could modify your mags to fit both guns.
Both Camp series are no longer made.
The Kel-tec SUB 2000 rifles are kinda cool but I am not sure what calibers and mag combos they are made in but there are many.
UPDATE: In the ATE forums topics get locked after 10 posts so you might start this thread on GD with a link to this one.
If you carry/have a Smith the Marlin Camp 9 uses standard S&W 59 series mags. There are no new Marlins being made but you can find them for about $400, http://gunbroker.com/Auction/SearchResults.asp?SearchResults.asp?SearchType=0&Keywords=camp+9&Cat=3024 . I have one and it seems to be a pretty good shooter. I have only put about 200rds through mine but there are many good reports on them.
And, thanks.

Kel-Tec makes the Sub-2000 in 40 that takes the Beretta 96 magazine; I believe this is one (no affiliation with the seller):

BTW, a friend has a Winchester .30-.30, pre-64 lever gun. He wants $450. Is that too high?
(the Kel Tec) but I didn't realize it folded up the way it does. That serves mission parameters even better.
as well. Thanks
I am working on a monograph on gun control. I've taught American history and government these past 15 years and can't help but noticed how biased our government textbooks and law class books are with regard to an individual rights interpretation of the 2nd Amendment. My colleagues "on the other side" are always coming at me about this issue. What I notice is, they try on arguments like clothing. If it fits, they wear it and truth is of no concern to them.
Also, don't forget about the carbine conversion uppers for both 1911s and Glocks...
