Can't fault either scope, both are great optics for the 52....personally I prefer the Lyman Super Target Spot. Like Ford & Chevy.

The "C" model would be the pick over the "B".....triggers were improved. In some respects I think the "B" series had nicer figured wood. Assume you're talking about target models. The most desireable of all the Sporters would be the "C" series, very few made and they had all the latest improvements. "B & C" series still had removeable magazines, the later "D & E" models were all single shots.

Best 52 reference is Houze's book "Winchester Model 52...Perfection in Design".

    52's from the Murray collection....

Bobski - you can use your scope for an "Any Sights" match in Prone or 3-pos.

There are many different types of "Small Bore" matches.

Typicaly you have a "Conventional Match" which consists of:

    Match 1: Dewar - 20 shots, A-23/5 target; 20 shots, 100 yards, A-25.
    Match 2: 40 shots, 100 yards, A-25 targets.
    Match 3: 40 shots, 50 yards, A-27 targets.
    Match 4: 40 shots, 50 yards, A-23/5 targets.
    Match 5: Grand Aggregate - Total of Matches 1, 2, 3, & 4.

    ALL shot prone.

Then you have "Metric" Matches which include 3-postition:

    Match 1: Dewar - 20 shots 50 yds, A-51 tgt; 20 shots, 100 yds, A-33.
    Match 2: 40 shots, 100 yards, A-33 targets.
    Match 3: 40 shots, 50 yards, A-51targets.
    Match 4: Grand Aggregate (Prone) - Total of matches 1, 2 & 3.
    Match 5: 20 shots, 50 yards, A-51 target - Offhand position.
    Match 6: 20 shots, 50 yards, A-51 target - Kneeling position.
    Match 7: Three Position Aggregate - Match 1 (50 Yd), 5 & 6.

And I know you already know this but; "The Dewar Course" -- 20 shots per shooter from 50 yards and 20 shots per shooter from 100 yards, fired from the prone position using rifles fitted with metallic sights. Telescopic sights are not permitted.

Considering the current cost of premium Match grade 22 ammo (Eley EPS, RWS R50, etc - about 30 cents Ea!) - it is now less expensive to shoot a 5.56 mouse gun in High-Power Matches.
