Decent handguns that chamber the .45 ACP?

Gentlemen,
I am in need of a handgun that will fire the .45 ACP, but am not sure on what would be the overall best choice for that. I am leaning towards Colt's Special Combat Government model, http://www.coltsmfg.com/cmci/Special_C.asp but require the overall best pick? Any thoughts? Comments?

I may just start a war with what I am about to say but I am going to say it anyways.

The best defensive handgun chambered in 45 ACP is the HK USP 45. It is high capacity, double/single action, manuel safety, decocker, resonably priced, basically everything you could ever want in a defensive handgun. Here are a few examples:

Springfield XD, 1911 variants, HK's, there is a whole host of fine 45's out there. Maybe you should narrow your parameters a bit and get exactly what you need/want.

Might I suggest S&Ws 325PD or 625 REVOLVERS?

Never a worry about "stove pipes", failures to feed, or the effects of "limp wristing". No "hammer bites". FAST reloads! And these will digest ANYTHING you feed them without worrying about polished feed ramps, tuned extractors or recoil springs.

I am a 1911 guy myself, but givette mades a real good point, if you don't have alot of gun knowledge-experiance a model 25 Smith, or something like it would be a good choice.
