I have found myself the new owner of a Colt 1911 U.S. Army made in 1918. It is the absolute awsome gun i have ever seen, i have some info on the gun but i am interested in finding out more of what i have and its value. What i know is the gun appears unfired, belonged to a Navel intelligence officer who aquirred it in WW1 and had a jeweler in Guam 100% full coverage hand engrave it. The bottom of mag trigger bushing everything. In addition it has solid sterling grips that are also engraved. They are marked 950 sterling which i have found could be mexico? made. If anyone has a good outlet i could send some photos th help get a handle on this it would be great. Also i would like to find some aged ivory smooth grips for it as well!

Well, that sounds like an interesting gun, & quite a story. It also sounds like you may already know as much as possible about the gun. If you want to post photos, maybe someone will be able to add something. Check near the top of this forum for a "sticky" that explains how to post photos.

I doubt that anyone can tell you the "dollar value" of a gun that is, obviously, unique. It's real value will be the pleasure that you get from owning it, & showing it off to guys like us who appreciate seeing unusual guns.

Hello you have mail but my opinion might not be what you hope it to be. believe it or not but original Military model 1911 with all correct parts and finish may be of higher value then any NON FACTORY engraved modified pistol. "PRAISE THE HARD-BALL GUN"
