Experts,
Does anybody know anything about the Heckler & Koch MP5 or variants? (Handling, reliability, etc.) Anything helps.

What exactly would you like to know. In my opinion, it is probably the best submachine gun built.

H&K 94 is a civilian version of the MP5. They are still big bucks, even if you can find one for sale. H&K makes good toys !

    Guppy,

I own and shoot an HK94, handling and reliability are top notch. Only weak point on an MP5/HK94 is the roller locker. It's about a ten dollar part and I've replaced it once after about 20K rounds. I'm told the gun will function just fine with out the locker (it simply keeps the rollers in place during disassembly) even working.

The initiation price into the world of HK is never cheap...but, they are fine firearms that function well and hold their resale value.

If you get the opportunity to pick up a MP5/94 do it.

Worried about the roller locker after 20K rounds! The barrel doesn't have much more life in it then that(well under extreme conditions). I wouldn't worry to much about the roller locker.

Good street fighter! Piece of crap combat gun!
The roller lock bearing system is extraordinarily susceptible to the single grain of sand. This gun and it's predescessors are not good in any combat or high dirt environments.

An AK is better for reliability and a FAL gives you more reliability and a great deal more accuracy.

The H&K is nothing more then a modified CETME! And personally, the CETME is manufactured rough enough to actually be a better design. 60 years has detracted not enhanced the design of this gun.

Yes, I've used all the variants prior to 1999.

Just my experienced .000000000002 cents worth.

    As for clones:
    http://www.arizoniaresponsesystems.com

Go to notes then click on "special weapons SW 5 "

Pull a google search on special weapons and Todd Bailey.
Sometimes cheaper is not the answer.

Also loads of complaints all over the web from various clone owners about FTE's common cure is changing extractor and extractor spring with genuine H&K parts.

    General mp5 type items:

There's a lot of discussion on straight magazines and curved, Curved being preferred (complaints of feed issues when using ammo other than ball).
