Remington 700 classic stock

I ended up picking up a Remington 700 classic in a 25.06. It didn't have the original wood stock on it though. Will the Classic model fit in a different model's stock, or will I have to find a classic stock? I got a good deal on the rifle, but I was a bit sad I didn't get the original stock.[B)]

I recently purchased a Remington model 700 classic in the 25.06, but it doesn't have the original stock on it. To get a stock that fits it, will I have to find a classic stock, or will one of the other model 700 stocks fit it? BDL, CDL?

    walther86,

If you can find a long action Classic stock it should fit. I'm pretty sure that the barrel channel for all the cartridges(Classic) is the same.

Any of the 700 BDL stocks will fit your rifle, as long as they are for a long action, but not the Varmint model. It will work but you'll have a lot of barrel clearance...
You can use the 700 ADL stock also, but will loose the hinged floor plate, for whatever thats worth...

    Another thing to consider:
The standard ADL/BDL stock for me, is one of the worst, most punishing designs out there. The classic stock, on the other hand, seems to fit me like a glove and is definately more comfortable with comparable loads. It may be just the opposite for you, but it's a good thing to check out. If you do go with the ADL, in addition to losing floorplate, you may want a new trigger guard.
    Good luck,

I actually think that the stock on it is a BDL because there is some barrel clearance. Do any of you have an idea where I could find a classic stock? I've checked the auctions here on gunbroker, but I can't quite narrow one down. Any other websites out there?
