What would the approximate value be for a Rem 788 chambered in 7mm-08? I was told it is in excellent condition, but have yet to see pics. I need a value wuth the assumption that it is excellent. Thanks!

I'm gonna shoot from the hip and suggest $400 to $500 range.

This will have a lot to do with your interpertation of excellent!

It does not take into consideration any "glass" that might be part of the deal!

In all honesty get photo's post them and then we'll be able to put a real price on it![8D]

Around here the value range would be about $100.00 shy of the above on both ends. An accurate and strong action, a favorite of benchresters for a time, but more utilitarian shooter than a classy firearm. MHO, obviously. Possible collectors status could shoot me out of the water as well. Is the 7-08 a rebarrel? (price down), or original? (How many were made in that chambering?)
    Good luck.

These were an excellent "working gun". $400-$500 is about going rate around here also. About twice what they were new.

The shop in town sold one a month or so ago for $400.00 chambered for a 30/30.
It was in pretty good shape at probably 90% or better....

i've been following prices for 788s fairly consistently for several years, and would concur with 400-500 if excellent. not a lot of 7mm08s were made, but a bit of a downside is they were only made in carbines: 18 1/2 inch barrel.

i bougtht my 788 in 243 new in january 1979 for $104 on inventory sale, probably the best buy I've ever made

    Blue book shows a 15% premium for the .7mm-08 caliber. $365 at 95 % .

I believe they only made the 788 in 7mm 08 one year 1980.
