Model 1871, not 70. Should be in 11mm Mauser, aka 11.15X60R, aka 10.95X60R, aka .43 Mauser.

Can't help with value- the long rifles run about $300 for a fair condition shooter up to several thousand bucks, carbines are worth more.

Post your photos please. The actual carbine has quite a bit of value, but a few years back a company cut down some rifles to slightly over carbine size and rechambered them to 45-70. I need to verify you actually have a carbine.
Need photos of overall weapon, nosecap, and markings on the left side of the receiver rail.

you are right it is a model 71. but it is a true carbine, as it has been sitting in my grandfathers closet for 50 years unaltered. prior to that it was and older friend of his that served in the miliitary and brought it back after WW2. Little is known other than that. It has a bunck of markings on it, all matching numbers, SUHL factory markings, along with the infantry specifics.
It is not a model 71/84 or other, it just says model 71 and has a date of 1877 stamped on it. I will get some pictures and post them this evening. I really appreciate the input.
