I bought this gun used, the gun is in great shape. I have had some issues with the Trigger/Sear, it will shoot fine and then it does this click-click thing and then fire. So i have looked over the forums and have talked to others and they say it is the trigger. I replaced the trigger with a Rifle Basix and tried it and it still does the same thing as before, so i looked over the bolt and cocking piece and went to David Tubbs site and got the Cocking piece firing pin and spring, still does the same thing. this has gone on since i purchased this old nag. So i helped out with doing a couple of pillar jobs on a 700rem and a 110 savage and look back at my ol nag and the space between the Sear pin and the stock has a 3/16 gap in it, as i looked further i found the sear pin come out of it's socket and the sear is at a angle when fired it does the click click-bang.mmmmmmm, so i mixed up some bondo and filled the part of the stock that supports the sear pin and dry fired at least 30 + times and no "click click bang" i have seen this referenced as sear creep. This has fixed the problem with the click click-bang thing---anyone who has a mod 70 has to have experienced this or has heard of it on these rifles
So now I have this issue of the Bolt/safety thing to work out, i relieved the cocking piece as instructed and the safety finally worked, but their is a glitch, when i put the safety on and try to fire the gun it snaps just a little and if i push the safety off it SNAPS FIRES! This is crazy-if i put the safety ON and don't touch the trigger and take of the safety it works with no issue-if i put it back on and pull the trigger it snaps a little and if i take off the safety all the way BOOM-it fires-not even touching the trigger. I figured if i replace the BOLT it will solve all my problems. I have looked HI/LOW for parts for this thing and it is like trying to find Noah's Ark. My brother just bought a new REM 700-270 and i have to say it is the sweetest gun i have ever fired, i know that the mod 70 is a keeper so if someone could point me in the right direction i would be very thankful, so would thee ol nag. THX!
