Help...........I received a shotgun, looks like 12 gauge, when my last grandparent died. The only information on the gun is Milwaukee Gun Co and A6708 on underside by trigger. I talked to some folks at Cabella's and they informed me that 50-70 years ago companies like IC HIggins or Fox made guns for retailers like Sears and such. If anyone has any information for me on age or worth as antique, please drop me a line. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.
Carpe Diem!

    Hello officer,
There is not a lot of information to go on, maybe some one else will be more familiar with Milwaukee Gun Co in particular. I'll go out on a limb and guess that it is most likely a "hardware store" type gun manufactured by Cresent or maybe Stevens. J. C. Higgins was a Sears brand and made by several manuafaturers over the years. There were literally thousands of exposed hammer twist barrel shotguns made in Belguim and exported to the U.S. Some of the branding is interesting, like Barker (for Parker), Richards (for Westley Richards, A H Box (for Ansley H. Fox) and other names that had similarities to well known manufacturers.

If you could post a picture there are a couple of guys on this forum that could nail the value for you. I am thinking it could be from a anything from a $50 wall hanger to a decent $400 plus shooter. Some of the 50-70 year old Hunter Arms, Stevens, Ithaca and others are great guns. And it was you Grandfather's, so its a treasure in its own right.

Dismount the Barrels and see if there is and Oval with the letters E over LG in the Oval stamped on the Water Table (thats the Flat portion under the barrels at the Back)...If so...its Belguim made...As to value? Lets ascertain who the maker is or was and then give a complete and total discription of this gun...

I don't know if it's the same outfit? But there's a Milwaukee Arms Co., listed in one of my references. It was a Trade Name used by the Hopkins & Allen Co., on some of the shotguns they manufactured in the early 1900's.

Best listen to the Capt. take the gun down, look for any proof marks. If their are none, the gun is probably U.S. Made. It might be one of the H & A guns.
