Pretend you wife came to you one morning as you were just waking up and set a tray down with breakfast and some of the best coffee you have ever smelled. Take it a step further and pretend she leans over and whispers in your ear so that her breath and proximity send goosebumps all over your body. Now, pretend this is what she whispers,....

"Honey, I decided we really do not need new curtains, sheets and bath towels. How about I take this $600 and buy you a 1911? Just tell me which one and I will run to the gun store and pick it up for you while you lie here eating breakfast and watching TV."

What would you tell her?

Who are You and does your wife have an unmarried Sister that likes old guys. My vote on your Question would be a new Springfield.I think there are others "USED" that could/would be better but as gift you would want it to be new and look good.

That would be my choice but get the one in stainless. I have had a semi hard time not buying one since I seen them.

    I'd go Springfield too. I got a mil-spec for $ 625.

Watch for folks selling the GI model for the Mil-spec price.
A lowered eject port on the Mil-spec is one difference that is easy to spot.

If the Mil-spec is over your budget in your area, I would buy the GI model. It is a fine gun.

How many of you guys TELL your wife when you buy new guns ?
I'm hoping for a maximum of 1 responding.
I've found that if I tell for 1 of every 3 I still have calm waters.

    LOL

Sorry man, that was all posed in the hypothetical. My wife is going to cut me off for the rest of the year when she finds out I bought another gun. (Of course I will have another gun which at my age is starting to seem like a lot more fun and I do not need a pill to get it to play)

First I'd look under the bed and get rid of the pod that the aliens put there. Then i'd throw her a shot, if I was still in good graces after that I'd tell her I need a Rock Island .45...RIA's are great shooters right out of the box. I only have 2 now but working on more.[:D]
