Need info on unusual shotgun!

I have a shotgun that a friend wanted me to clean. It is very old and is one I have never heard of. It is a break over 12ga shotgun manufactured by A. Baldwin & Co. Limited. New Orleans, La. By the trigger guard it has the numbers 550. Can anyone tell me the history and value of this shotgun?

BALDWIN AND COMPANY, New Orleans, La., No date of when in Business in My data base...Only that they were in business after the Civil War and into the late 1890's...also the only American maker of Shotguns with OCTAGONAL barrels.....Thats all I can give you....Will be interesting to see if someone out there has more information....Best....

i recently aquired an a baldwin &co. limited break barrel shotgun. mine has the number 575 by the trigger guard. i cant find any info on the company either,other than the names of two of the people who worked for the company.Blake Peter warehouseman A. Baldwin & Co. Ltd. r. 365 Jackson av. 4th Dist.
