If this is typical TC, you can expect very good accuracy. From a scoped gun off a bency, you should be able to get at least 2 inch or better grouopd. The more you practice, the better the groups will get.

As for the chambering, you can shoot 45LC, or the potent 454 Casull in it, just like a revoler. If you reload, reduced loads on the 460 case would be better than either, IMHO, to reduce the free bore, and increase accuracy potential.

thanks for the information.I do plan reloading but I know that loads are still trying to be proven and worked. are half inch groups out of the question at 50 yards. what about 1 inch at 100 yrds?

If you are talking about shooting from a benchrest with sandbags, no those size groups are not out of the question. They might not be common, but with some of the bullets available, I would guess they can be pretty small.

You can get groups like that and smaller.[;)]
I have it in a 16 1/4" and it can drive tacks out to 200 yards with factory loads from Hornady,200gr SST

sure kill .... your getting that out of the factory hornady loads? that was what I was sighting my gun in with but I had to stop because I knew I developed a flinch. I know thats amature. but next time I'll have it sighted in.

OK.. another question... what about loading a 454 casull load with identical bullet and powder typa/weight into a 460 case? It lists as less than the minimum 460 load but should work in theory. I would like to let my nephew use it for deer hunting and he is sensitive to recoil(needs to grow). Any input wold be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Are you going to scope it? BTW, I'd go the reduced loads in 460 case instead of 45 LC or 454. Point of impact is probably going to be much different & I've usually seen lousy accuracy when making that sort of change - lots of free bore.

In theory what you are doing is leaning out the fuel mixture more than what is reccommended. Think of any cartrige case as being a cylinder of an internal combustion engine. The 45 colt loads are meant for a case with the internal volume of a 45 Colt, the same with a 454, ans the same with a 460. If you run to short on powder, you could run accross detonation, or hang fires...not good. If you want low end loads for a casull, use a casull case. Ig you want real mild loads use the 45LC.

Thanks tsr! That makes a lot of sense. I am going to experiment with some 460 loads this weekend but will keep them at or above the minimum loads of the published data I have. For a lighter round I will go to a 454 case and experiment with different load combinations until I find one accurate enough for hunting.
