I was given a 12gauge Mithchell High Standard shotgun - Why is it marked Mitchell? And, will High Standard parts interchange with it?

I haven't shot it yet but the action seems to be pretty smooth.

Any and all information in regards to this shotgun is appreciated.

When H.S went out of business Mitchell decided to use H.S. designs . H S sued them to make Mitchell stop. PARTS FIT ????

I believe that Mitchell was importing these Shotguns from the Philipines and quality is hit and miss. I doubt teh parts are exact copies. The Mitchell pistols were not quite the same.

When High Standard Houston was started, one partner owned the rights to the pistols excluding the Dura-Matic, The other product lines - derringers, revolvers, rifles, Dura-Matic pistols and shotguns went to other buyers when the company was sold and High Standard Houston did not own the rights to the shotgun designs and tooling. The suit against Mitchell was about trade mark rights and trade dress for the pistols and had nothing to do with teh other productsm
