Simmons are not made like they used to be. I would not suggest either for a 30-06. You may get a good one, but I think you will be disappointed before to long with one. Spend a little extra bread and get a Nikon or one of the better Bushnell if you don't want to spend a lot of money. Scopes are like everything else, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! Good luck.

If you want a pretty decent scope for the money take a look at some of the Swifts. They're going to be more that $70.00 but they are a lot better than the Simmons. The other option is a 4X fixed powered scope especially if your hunting under 100 yds.

If one just had to buy a cheaper scope I would suggest a 3x9 variable tasco. I have had many, many of these over the years and never had a failure. With any scope the mounts are probably more important than anything else. Steel mounts are a must for accuracy over the cheaper aluminum mounts which in my opinion should only be used on a .22 caliber. Unfortunately the mounts can be pricey and even more than the cheaper scopes. Another inexpensive scope is the BSA. An eventual goal is to find a good buy on a Leopold or Burris with Leopold mounts.

Look at the Bushnell Banner line of scopes. Same price, much better scope IMO.

For the price, Bushnell Banner. I would choose a simmons over a tasco. Just my experience, I've seen to many tasco's fail. I do have a whitetail classic and it works fine. I agree with buy better if you can. I can now, but haven't always been able to and I have killed a lot of game with cheaper scopes. It's better to get in the woods with what you can afford than sit at home and wish you had better.

save a while longer and buy a decent scope,...both of those will eventually let you down. Try a Burris FFII

Natchez sells Weaver Classic series and Sightron. Both very good scopes for the money.

Definitely save your money until you have enough to buy a good scope. Nikon, Leupold, Burris, Bushnell Elite all GOOD scopes without getting ridiculous in price. I have spent money on cheaper scopes in the past and always ended up disappointed.
