Hello I may be of some help in answer to your Question . There are few Factory available 1911 pistols that are N.R.A. Bulls-Eye capable above the Marksman /Sharpshooter class. Rock River and some models of Les Baer do shoot very well . Is the Taurus a basis for building a gun after you decide to get serious about match shooting? Be aware it comes with a number of bells and whistles. Beaver tail grip safety and front of slide gripping grooves to name a few. HOWEVER these will make it non legal to use in a DCM/CMP run EIC match. To upgrade for N.R.A. matches the frame will have to be fitted to the slide and the Barrel and bushing will have to be replaced. My suggestion is to contact the N.R.A. competition dept and find a Match near you. Go to this match and watch what takes place. during Lunch break talk to some of the better shooters and ask if anyone knows of a shooter that is retiring and has match guns for sale. Then Find out if seller is willing to let you watch him test that pistol on His or Clubs Ransom Rest. I have seen some great match pistols sold for 1/3 the price of new pistols . . Contact me by my profile EMAIL if you have more Questions If you live near me I may be able to help in person. Camp Perry 1972-2005
