Colt Commemoratives - Kansas Series CowTowns

Hi - I have a couple of .22 cal revolvers - these were handed down to me from my Father - and I just wanted to get an idea of what they're worth.

They're both from the Kansas Series, CowTowns, One is the Abilene, Gold w/wood grip (not sure the type), and the other Nickel with a Pearl grip. I'm not a collector - so I don't have a lot of knowledge about these items - and I'm just now beginning to dig. I do have pictures but am not sure the best way to post those.
Thanks!!

I should also add that both of these weapons have been fired. I fired one of them many times growing up - but they've always been kept in their case and cleaned and cared for very well.

If anyone could steer me to a resource for information on these that'd be great as well.
    Thanks

Fired commemoratives are just shooters $300.00- $350.00 each if you have the wooden boxes.

Hello Colt VT If these are Family guns I would value them for what they are rather then what they would bring if you tried to sell them. Colt made many guns that were made as collector Items Sadly these guns have a very limited market and the fancy 22's don't bring very much at all and then ONLY if unfired in the box. My suggestion is to keep in the family and consider the $ value a MOOT Point.

EDIT EDIT[:(]Sorry to hear that they don't belong to you Without knowing your uncle it is hard to say But my take would be your uncle is trying to take advantage of you [:(!] my suggestion would be spend a day with him at the gun show of his choice .Or visit a number of gun shops. You pay for the gas and tickets to get in walk with him and let him try to sell the pistols with an agreement that you will give him 25% more then the best offer from any dealer. I bet at the end of the day you will be in the $500.00 dollar range because best offer for the pair will be around $400.00

Hi all - Thanks for the input. In all perfect honesty - these were my Father's - but he passed away when I was a young teen (14) - and my mom sold all my Dad's guns (which were quite a few) to my Uncle. Evidently he's in some financial difficulties now - and he knows that these two have always held sentimental value for me - because I remember shooting them with my Dad as a kid - so he had called me up and offerred to sell them back to me for $1000 total - telling me he thought he could get $1500 if he went to a show with them. I wanted to do a little research and see what the facts are... I did tell him I was going to research them - and he called me back later and said he'd give them to me for $800. I'm just trying to decide how I want to respond to him.
    Thanks again.

If you want the guns for family value $800.00 is a fair price. Also will help family.

Your uncle is trying to take advantage of you. He'd be lucky to get $500 for them at a show.

In your situation, I'd just beg off & walk away. Your relationship with your uncle (& maybe the rest of the family) will suffer, as he will always know that he took advantage of you, & he will know that YOU know that he did.

    Neal

PS: I gave the gun he wanted to my nephew.

Thanks for the advice gents - I very much appreciate it. I imagine, based on this advice, that I'll end up giving the $800 to my Uncle for the guns. I very much appreciate you folks taking the time to give input. [:)]
