Remington Model 12-CS help

I was asked to clean a Model 12-CS to be given to my sister-in-laws son. I believe it belonged to her grandfather. It has an octagonal barrel and has "22 Remington Special" on the barrel.. I have been unable to cycle the pump action. Any help would be apreciated.

Have you tried pushing the release button, or pulling the trigger to let the hammer fall?

I have tried pushing the cylinder just behind the forestock. no luck. I can not get the trigger to do anything

Thanks Dick, I finally opened the side screw and there is a broken piece and a small spring that fell out. Off to the gusmith, I guess. It is a nice firearm tho...
