GB Auctions

I can't seem to find an answer to a question on GB auctions FAQ's. Let's say you are tracking a particular item that seems to be a little higher than it is worth. It has a reserve, but no buy now option. The starting bid seems high also. You follow the item to the end of it's auction and watch it be relisted at the same price. Is it permissible to contact the seller and see if he will take a lower offer than the starting bid? I follow a few items like that which are continually relisted and never bid on. Just wondering if it is allowed.[?]

Sure, I've done it. Just ask the seller to add a "Buy it now" at your agreed price so you can both post feedback and Gunbroker.com still gets their fees.

I think a common practice. Just use the "BUY IT NOW" feature so you have the GB protection.

One of the keys here is to not ask the person to end an auction early. People are often times taken advantage of this way when new to selling or a little unclear as to what they may have. In an effort to be amenable to offers they relent and sell a $700 Polish mauser for 350. Just ask the seller to relist after the current auction end with an agreed upon BIN and no one has a reason to complain as far as I am concerned.
