Edward Maynard Breechloader

Our family has had this gun literally for generations. It is an Edward Maynard Brechloader with the G.W.S. on the side of the lock. The rear sights are the "3 flip up" style. It is in good shape and has been in a gun cabinet for the last 40 +yrs. The bore looks like it was cut yesterday. It has not been "cleaned" ever that I am aware of.... meaning it has not been dolled up . There is some rust on the barrel that has been wiped down . The browning has just about been worn off.
The question is I don't have a clue what its real value is. I have heard prices from one extreme to the other. Looking for help.

It would be best if you could post quality pictures of it. Maynard carbines and rifles were made from the 1850's until the 1880's.

Although with the G.W.S. marking, which is probably a Civil War era inspectors initials. It's probably a capping carbine which are the most common of the Maynards encountered.

Rust that has been removed with a abrasive, usually has a negative effect on value. Collectors much prefer the original finish even with rust, then something that has been emery clothed down to bare metal.
