shipping rifle to new york city

I just sold a pre-ban mini-14 with a 30rd mag to a buyer who it turns out is in new york city. I tried reading the ATF rules but it's so much gobblygook I don't understand it. Does anyone know if it is legal to ship this to him or someplace I can find the rules in plain english?

He will have to provide you with an FFL to ship to.

Get that from him and then call the FFL to ask.

If not legal I sure as heck would deduct listing and final value fees out of the refund and let the feedback "chips" fall where they may.

I do not believe that the 30 round mag. is legal to own in N.Y. Much less N.Y.C.. Follow what Henry said and be careful with this one, or you might have Bloomberg on your behind!![xx(]

First, people do own rifles in NYC. They are registered.

Secondly, it is up to the delivering FFL to insure all local laws are complied with... not the seller/shipper. That's why FFLs are used.

A ruger mini-14 in its original "sporting" configuration such as a ranch rifle (no pistol grip,bayo-lug or flash hider) is 100% legal for a rifle/shotgun permit holder to own as of this post response, hi-cap rifle mags are NOT legal to own AT ALL (anything over 5 rounds) pistols are limmited to a 15 round capicity. This is one of the worst areas in the country for a gun owner to reside[V]
