Hey guys/gals,

I am looking at picking up a sig auto loading pistol in the .40 cal, I have been having trouble looking for the highest capacity model they make. I believe the 226 SCT is 15 rounds but I see a MSRP at 1100!, any help would be appreciated.

p.s. If anyone has any suggestions for a different high quality, high capacity capable .40 pistol feel free to shout them out.

thanks

It would be very hard to find a better pistol than the 226. The MSRP might be $1100, but must are sold in the mid $800 range, or you can also find factory reconditioned 226's for under $600.
All that being said, make sure you get a good feel of the 226 before you lay down your money, just make sure that the gun fits you properly. After all, you will shoot a good fitting gun better than one that does not fit you.

I'm coming up with a short list of solid high cap .40's so I can go out and touch them before buying one.

My search is Sig, glock and HK but HK's seem like they are harder to find at a dealer to handle first.

One .40 that I've found to my liking is the Smith and Wesson M&P. I've owned Glocks and XD's as well. Both the Glock 23c and the M&P have been awesome. But hey, if you can afford the Sig, go for it!

For what it's worth, I love my Glock 23 (second generation no finger grooves), compact and a good shooter.

I would suggest you move the XD to the top of your list [:D] IMHO it is the best pistol for the $$ available. At 2/3 the price of the sig it is a great value. I have nothing against the sig P226 as it is on my short list for my next pistol. It is however significantly more expensive than the XD.

Good luck with your decision and enjoy whatever you decide to purchase.
