Ammo in a machine gun belt

Recently aquired some reloading items in a deal, and there was a belt that looked like it went threw a machine gun, it was marked LS 85 with a small circle on the case head, with a cross in it, anyone know what it is for? By taking rough measurments, it looks like .308 FMJ. Just asking. Thanks Don

Is the ammo contained in a disintegrating metal belt?. If so, its probably made in Israel. The Israeli's received many of our old 1919A4 machineguns and converted them to 7.62 nato.
Below is a pic of my 1919's. The top is a U.S. 30-06 and the bottom is an Israeli in 7.62 Nato AKA .308.

v35.... The mount the 30-06 is on came with that gun. I suppose the water cooled 1917a1 would fit. I was just at a belt fed shoot last sunday and a buddy of mine had a water cooled gun. I think they both will fit on the same mount, but Iam not positive.
The higher mount is more comfortable to shoot from, you can sit in a chair, while the other lower mount requires sitting on the ground or going prone. The lower mount was more practical in combat since the machine gunner was the first target the enemy went after.... so being prone made a lot of sense.
