Hey y'all:
Anyone know what is involved in adding BOSS to a new A-bolt not currently fitted with it? It is a 30-06 White gold medallion. Thanks for any info!

Does the BOSS system affect the velocity of the bullet. The barrel length on a Browning A-bolt 7mm WSM is 23" on the BOSS model it is also 23" including the BOSS, so it looks to me like it has about 21" of barrel and 2" of boss which lets the gas escape out the side and around the bullet. This gun also has the conventional recoil end I can put on, would this give me a little more velocity over the ported end, or do they all preform the same.

Browning claims the BOSS dosen't affect velocity but I want proof, I think they are just trying to sell their product.

You'll have to have the barrel threaded for the BOSS.

Give Browning a call. I am sure if anyone could, they could. Therre are many aftermarket breaks out there that reduce recoil(KDF is one of the best), but the BOSS is the only accuracy tuning one I know of. If it is recoil that is a problem, try lighter loads like a 150 grain with a heavier constructed bullet like a Partition, or a Barnes TSX. I have a first run A-Bolt SS in 30-06, and it kicks like a mule with 180's. Ten shots will turn a shoulder purple. I load a Barnes 130 to about 3300 FPS, and it kills even better too.
