the 1911 that taurus has come out with is awesome. shoots where you aim it ,functions flawlessly. i have fired kimbers, colts and others and this girl works. tight action. it doesnt rattle when you shake it like the colts and others trigger pull is excellent,3 #'s. and she is not even broke in yet. sights are good. it functioned with all the makes of mags i had on hand to boot.

i think that this is a message forum! any questions??
You thinks wrong. Its called "ask the experts", not tell the experts. Im not knocking Taurus, I have two and they work better than I hoped.
well heres a question for you guys then, i also just picked up a new taurus 1911 and cannot get the takedown pin out. it moves a little, but wont come out. are the tolerances really that tight? i strip down my kimber with no problem.... don't wanna cause any damage, but it needs to come out. any suggestions?
Try just a tad of pressure on the spring, rearward, as you push on the pin. It worked for me years ago.
The Taurus 1911...parts interchangeability with the M1911 Colts? What say ye? Yay, or Nay??

UncleFudd: Where can I go to find a listing of companies that have enough faith in their product to have a rental program? Tks, Joe
Exact same gun with a different manufacture name on it would get thumbs up from the brand snobs.
Furthermore if you want a real and honest eval on a gun put it in a "rental" program at your local range and see how it performs and and for how long.
My range has had a rental program for 20 years and believe me when I tell you the "gunwriters" get paid well for thier glowing accounts.
This rental program, unfortunatlly, (depending on your point of view) debunked a whole lot of these write-ups over the years and not just with guns but with so many of the add-ons they tout. We don't do this on purpose nor do we set out to break them. We enter into rental agreement programs with major manufacturers, put their products out for the public and some just do not cut it.
Some of the biggest and most familiar names don't last two months and some much less than that, before they literally fall apart. It is true that the guns get heavy use, daily, but you may want to keep the one you buy to use for yourself and then pass it on to your kids perhaps.
That will not happen if the gun you shoose will not handle your every day use which is always much less than what they will get in the rental counter.
So as he said, ask someone who owns one, AND who uses it.
Owning one and putting it in the drawer is not an example of use, ability or longevity.
Good luck
