the 1911 that taurus has come out with is awesome. shoots where you aim it ,functions flawlessly. i have fired kimbers, colts and others and this girl works. tight action. it doesnt rattle when you shake it like the colts and others trigger pull is excellent,3 #'s. and she is not even broke in yet. sights are good. it functioned with all the makes of mags i had on hand to boot.

I don't see how this is a question. Seems like brand loyalty propaganda.

ask the experts is if you have questions. general discussion forums are for your type claims, but good for you anyway.[:p]

You thinks wrong. Its called "ask the experts", not tell the experts. Im not knocking Taurus, I have two and they work better than I hoped.

well heres a question for you guys then, i also just picked up a new taurus 1911 and cannot get the takedown pin out. it moves a little, but wont come out. are the tolerances really that tight? i strip down my kimber with no problem.... don't wanna cause any damage, but it needs to come out. any suggestions?

I have mags with the plastic bases and use the bases to press out the pin/slide stop. I have a CZ that I absolutely have to do it this way cause I cant push hard enough with my thumb.

Try just a tad of pressure on the spring, rearward, as you push on the pin. It worked for me years ago.

Since the OP didn't pose a question, I feel free to jump in.

The Taurus 1911...parts interchangeability with the M1911 Colts? What say ye? Yay, or Nay??

    EDIT:
Wehrmacht 45: Thanks for the heads up. Joe

UncleFudd: Where can I go to find a listing of companies that have enough faith in their product to have a rental program? Tks, Joe

From what I have seen all the parts interchange with any other employing the series 80 firing system. Of course with any 1911, some fitting might be required.

Yeah with a lifetime warranty, all forged parts, and pretty much shining reviews. Could do a lot worse for the same amount of cash, like an Auto Ord.

I think the Taurus 1911 is getting a bad rap. I have seen great reviews in Gun Mag write ups, and the list of features is impressive.
Exact same gun with a different manufacture name on it would get thumbs up from the brand snobs.

Hello You may call me a gun snob I respect all opinions if based on facts . But am VERY distrustful of GUN WRITERS and their glowing reports from the same companies. that pay for the Magazine. There used to be a Car Company that stated "ASK THE MAN WHO OWNS ONE"

    I agree with perryshooter.
Furthermore if you want a real and honest eval on a gun put it in a "rental" program at your local range and see how it performs and and for how long.

My range has had a rental program for 20 years and believe me when I tell you the "gunwriters" get paid well for thier glowing accounts.
This rental program, unfortunatlly, (depending on your point of view) debunked a whole lot of these write-ups over the years and not just with guns but with so many of the add-ons they tout. We don't do this on purpose nor do we set out to break them. We enter into rental agreement programs with major manufacturers, put their products out for the public and some just do not cut it.

Some of the biggest and most familiar names don't last two months and some much less than that, before they literally fall apart. It is true that the guns get heavy use, daily, but you may want to keep the one you buy to use for yourself and then pass it on to your kids perhaps.
That will not happen if the gun you shoose will not handle your every day use which is always much less than what they will get in the rental counter.

So as he said, ask someone who owns one, AND who uses it.

Owning one and putting it in the drawer is not an example of use, ability or longevity.

    Good luck

One place to get honest, unbiased opinions on firearms is the magazine "Gun tests". Not absolute, but pretty darn close. No advertisers to suck up to.
