Heres some pics of a Low wall brought to me by a friend to acquire some idea of value and authenticity. There seems to be some discrepency on whether the stock and butt plate are original. Any input would be appreciated.

It is a 28 inch octagon barrel, marked number 2, the caliber is 22 short, the serial number is 4191x, it is a Winchester and made in New Haven , Conn, there is no model number on the gun, just a patent date.

The forarm is checkered and has the ebony insert in the tip.

    Pa,

I replied to your second email.

To all others who read this topic, I was the person who told Pa that the buttstock and butt plate are not factory, and that the checkering on the forend stock is not factory either. Additionally, the front sight is a Lyman No. 17A, which is a later production sight.

It is a well cared for 1890 vintage low-wall, but one that has been modified.

Great Looking rifle I would venture to say the stock work was done in Germany or if not done there it was most likely done by a German trained Gun-Smith.
