WINCHESTER 1892 INFO

I've inherited an 1892 that looks so clean that I thought it was a newer reproduction, but one data base on the web says the S/N of 619324 dates it to 1911. Is this info correct? Would the receiver engraving be factory? Value? This is a 25-20 WCF and appears to have never been fired. Thanks for any info. Russ

Can you send me clear full sized pictures? It does not look like it is factory original engraving to me, but I can't really see it all that well. The receiver frame is nickel plated, also no likely to be original. Lastly, the checkering on the buttstock is definitely not factory work. My guess is that a previous owner paid very good money to have it gussied up. That said, I would still like to see close pictures of it. Win1885@msn.com

Your remark on the possibility of non-factory engraving/checkering got me looking closer and now I can spot some variations in line widths and edge variations that make me agree that it was probably non-factory (but still very nice!) work. Close inspection leads me to believe that the silver color is not plated and carries over into edges visible in action. I'm afraid I'm working with budget cameras, but I'll see if I can get some better shots forwarded. I do appreciate your input! Russ
