What is the popular opinion on disabling a High Power magazine safety? How is this done? Just wondering.

Why is a Browning Hi-power called "HI-Power"? Does it shoot its bullets faster than a regular pistol?

I was wondering if anyone knows about this particular gun and or its value? BROWNING HIGH POWER, MADE IN BELGIUM ASSEMBLED IN PORTUGAL, HAS TWO CLIPS 9M AND 40 SMITH AND WESSON, APPARENTLY THE BARREL WILL CHAMBER AND FIRE BOTH, GOLD TRIGGER, COMES WITH BOX, AND MANUAL, NEVER FIRED, CHROME FINISH, CONDITION IS EXCELLENT. Any information would help.

There is NO WAY you can fire 9mm and 40S&W from the same barrel. One of the mags doesn't belong with that HP.

I think they are one of the best ever made I have both 9mm and 40 s&w the forty uses a heavier slid and recoil spring

If the barrel will chamber the 40S&W and the slide will close and lock, it is a 40S&W pistol.
Some 9mm mags will also hold and feed 40 S&W.

I have the same gun in 9mm, and the High Power Practical in 40 cal. Both of these guns have the caliber stamped into the barrel, visible through the ejection port when the slide is closed.

Here's a shot at value; hard to tell without seeing it of course. Saw one the other day which I would describe about as you have yours, priced at $750 (used). That's a little high I think with fair used value with one in 95% condition between $500 and $600. 9mm or 40 S&W shouldn't make much difference on the value.

I have a Belgian Browning target model in 9mm and a newer MK III in 40 cal. I suspect the previous owner was using the 9mm mag to feed 40 cals - the 40 cal BHP will accept the 9mm mag and you can load 40s in the 9mm mag, although you'll get fewer rounds in it.
