Here are a couple of pictures of a rear peep sight on a J.C. higgens 22 model 10313 (same as a marlin 81) that has been in my family or a VERY long time. I am wanting some inserts for it, it has none so I need to know what type it is. I appreciate any info.

    Hello J.J.,

It is a Marlin No. 12R Receiver Sight. Try removing the elevation thumbscrew and see if the spare eyepiece is still with the sight.

Thank you Bert. Did as you suggested and not there, just bought one of e-barf though. Was my great uncles gun. He served in WWII and was re-activated for Korea and served all through Korea as a flame thrower carrier/operater, sadly he passed away in 56 before I was born but the gun was in my late g-grand fathers estate, then passed down to my grand motehr, and since dad died 2 years ago; it is now mine thanks to my uncle giving it to me being I am oldest grand child. Something to keep and I can shoot it without the eye piece well enough to kill a squirrel at 30 yards BUT my oldest son is complaining because he cannot shoot it worth a nickle. As I see it it is mine not his![}:)] Ordered a sight aperture anyways so he can not whine about daddy out shooting him.[;)] Again thanks.
