old shot shells?

Came across a box of 25 #1 buck shot,paper hulls,says * heavies with u.s. in the center of the two words,neet spiral design on brass.Anyone shed some light as to how old these are?never heard of that shell manufacture best i can remember.Thanks,Paul

    I have some loose rounds of those as well. Just off the top of my head
    I beleive they are U.S. Ctg. Co. of Lowell, Mass. I am not sure when they went out of business but sometime around the turn of the century. I have come across quite a few of their ammo and much of it is black powder so that puts quite a way back. Do a search of the company on google.
