hi guys,,,i've owned a mossberg 800B in .243 caliber for a while now and only used 100 grainers for deer in it except for an occasional crow or fox on a bad deer day,,,now i'd like to change this to a strictly varmit rifle (no modifications except the scope) shooting the nosler 55 grain bt's at about 38 or 39 hundred fps using imr 4895 BY the nosler book,,,this is not a load question,,,what i am asking is if this firearm is capable of producing the 3800 fps loads,,,the 100 grainers were about 28 or 29 hundred fps,,,the rate of twist is 1 in 10,,,the barrel is 22 inches and want to hear your comments before trying it.thank you much,,,j3081

Actual testing will answer your question. I have fount with the lighter bullets a 1 in 12 twist works best, but I have not shot the 55gr. bullets. Maybe a 1 in 14 as used in the 6x47mm. I have a 6mm TCU on a 700 action. That has a 1 in 12 twist. 70 to 80 gr bullets work great.
