I bought a pre 64 Varmint in .220 Swift that has cleaned up beautiful! The bore, throat and rifling are excellent after a overnight soak and clean. The floorplate and bottom of trigger guard has a light freckling,I have rubbed with croker(sp?)sack cloth and oil, what is the best way to clean up the freckling and if I had to polish it out did Winchester use rust blue on floor plate&trigger guards? very best

Remember the barrel should be stainless steel, coated in iron oxide to facilitate blueing. Touch up may not be what you think. The Leupold scope mount should work fine. 1959 issue? I'm still lookin for a 1952 issue..
Have fun, keep your powder dry.
