Colt 1911 Value?

Hi,
I have a Colt 1911 in 45acp which is in original condition and is marked on the right side of the frame "United States Property". The serial number is 559***. At one point the pistol had an aftermarket barrel and other parts installed but the original parts have been put back in place. I took it out today and shot a 2" group at 15 yards. Is this an old gun? What is it's value?
Thanks Miles

Hello 207XXX is 1917 colt model 1911 with the one picture it looks like yours May be original finish but we would need Close up in focus pictures to have a better Idea if this is true A hands on inspection would be the only sure way. We would also need to see the gun dis- assembled to see the markings on the barrel looking for the letters H P and also marks on frame around the disconnector hole. . By all means sdo NOT alter this pistol until you can find out if 100% original . If Correct $2000 + [:p]again close up pictures are a must. If refinished but 99% then it is a $800.00 gun [xx(]

It is all original as I acquired it from a great-aunt that had it in her house when her estate was auctioned. It has 2 magazines ina mag.pouch that still had old , what appeared to be army issue ball ammo in them. She had passed before anyone new that she even had it and my uncle long before her. It was one of those lucky unexpected finds when you are getting things ready for an auction and in the bottom of a dresser drawer.
